Hi, Nancy,

We used t make the large cookie stamps with the decorative handles, but we haven't sine 2001 or so. I don't have any that I could sell, but I'm sure you can find things on e-Bay. I am always amazed by how much Brown Bag they have up. I didn't know there was a book!

Yesterday I found a 1988 shortbread mold for $5 at my local thrift store.... what a bargain. I went straight home and baked shortbread, and then served it as part of dessert when friends came to dinner last night. Yum!

Thank you for posting this recipe. I've had a shortbread pan for years, but managed to lose the recipe. I was getting frustrated with an on-line search because none of the recipes I found were like what I remembered. Then I found yours. Not sure if this is the same one, but it is so close it doesn't matter. It might even be better!

Hi, Maria,

I'm glad you like the new stamps. All stamp handles are the same fluted shape as the Christmas ones, but glazes are different for each series. The Heart stamps have a lavender glaze, and the Celtic/British Isles stamps are muted green. The previous stamps with the figured handles were fun , but some were a little hard to use. Personally, I prefer the simpler shape of these new ones.

Both sets of stamps have been available only since Monday, January 23, so I don't think any stores have them in stock in any quantities yet. Sweet'n Fancy in New Jersey does have a pretty good supply of Hearts, and they should get in their order of British Isles stamps the first week in February. Check the "Find A Store" tab for New Jersey for contact information.

Happy baking,
Lucy

Hello Lucy...They are just beautiful. It's so wonderful that you are staying young by continuing to create and continuing to work.. 2 things the same but different:-) Can you please show photos of the handles of these stamps including the heart series. I do love the new handles on the reindeer, santa face, tree and snowflake. Those handles are so much more workable than the beautiful stamps with the fancy figural handles. Of course I have most of those too:-)
When and where are the heart and british isle stamps available???
Thank you for bringing more cookie joy into our lives!

Hi, Patt,

Lee Valley Tools in Canada carries the Thistle Pan, and they do mail order. That would probably be your cheapest route, since you are in Ontario. They do not, however, carry British Isles. Amazon or a number of our other stores would probably send you a British Isles Pan for a little higher shipping charge. Check the "Find A Store" tab at the bottom of the Home Page. You can then go through stores to contact.

Best of luck,
Lucy

I had a thistle shortbread pan that I have used with love for many years. Unfortunately, it was broken this week and I am looking to replace it. I would also be interested in obtaining the "British Isles" pan. Could you let me know how I would go about getting these two pans? I reside in Ontario in the Niagara region.
Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Tracy, this means more to me than you could know. My mother went into Hospice care about a month ago. I have all the respect in the world for the work you do. You make such a huge difference for so many people, and I am grateful that I have an opportunity to play a very small part in that work... and to thank you.

My very best,
Lucy

Dear Lucy,

I have 4 of your pans and a cookie mold, and my 7 year old grandson just loves to make the cookies. I am a hospice nurse, and these cookies make easy and lovely gifts to take to my families at Christmas. It brightens their holiday and elicits many stories of the old timey Christmases they had in their youth. Thank you so much for making these!

Hi, Danielle,

Click on the "Find a Store" tab. There is a list of retailers by state. There's also a section of mail-order/web sources, as well. Actually, many of the stores are willing to do mail-order.

Good luck,

I *did* let it cool for 10 minutes. I am surprised though your comment says to cook in the bottom of the over as elsewhere on this site it clearly says to cook in the top third, so I'm curious as to which is correct.

The problem is that this particular recipe creates all this sugar and syrup on top that causes the bread to stick to the pan. You are supposed to loosen it from the sides with a knife and then it also says to bang the pan on the board if it doesn't come out. I had both a square pan and the round heart pan and the round in particular was really poorly suited for this recipe, as it was very hard to get a knife in and around the shape, although both pretty much failed to release the bread in one piece. Regular shortbread is not the issue, it's this particular recipe that I believe is just not well suited for this type of pan, where it's really hard to get the sides cleanly released from the sugar.

Dear Sue,

Try the Bakers Catalog from King Arthur Flour. You'll need to go on line, but I think they should have some Reindeer Pans. I know they carried them in their retail store, and I think they have them on their website. sweetnfancy.com would be another place to check.

Good luck,
