Thistles, Knots and Shamrocks I grew up Scotch-Irish, Scotch on my father’s side, Irish on my mother’s. There was a family tartan, both dress and hunting versions, a coat of arms, a motto in Latin, the works. There was supposed to be a clan castle somewhere on the moors, too. I found it very romantic.
